Traveling gantry cranes and portal cranes are all lifting machines, but the two are different:
Traveling gantry crane is improved on the basis of the overhead crane, consist of gantry frame, main beam, hoisting mechanism, trolley mechanism, traveling mechanism and other components. On both sides of the support legs, there are brackets, the traveling mechanism on the brackets can run along the ground dedicated track. The hoist and trolley on the girder can lift, lower and horizontally move along the main beam, can be widely used in workshops , warehouses, wharves, port, road and bridge construction, mining and other, good versatility, high efficiency, as shown below:
Portal cranes are jib-mounted cranes on support leags or on the foundation, which can be used to walk along the dedicated track on the ground and allow the vehicles pass. Portal cranes are commonly used in port handling, unloading, land transport and other operations. As shown below:
As can be seen from the above, traveling gantry cranes is more widely using range than portal cranes.
